Motion Systems That Communicate, Not Distract
Motion on a marketing site or product UI should clarify hierarchy, confirm state changes, and give the interface a sense of physical continuity. When every card fades, slides, and pulses independently, motion stops being communication and becomes noise — especially on slower devices where competing animations hurt perceived performance.
A motion system starts with a small set of durations, easings, and distances tied to intent: enter, exit, emphasis, and feedback. Those tokens belong in the design system alongside color and type, so designers and engineers share the same vocabulary.
Intent Before Ornament
Ask what the user needs to notice. Page transitions can soften context switches. Micro-interactions should confirm that a control responded. Hero sequences can establish brand presence once — not on every scroll tick.
Prefer reduced-motion fallbacks that preserve meaning without the animation. Accessibility is not a separate track; it is part of the system definition. When motion is intentional, sparse, and tokenized, the interface feels premium without looking busy — and the same rules scale cleanly from landing pages to dense product workflows.
